Privacy notice

Last updated 21 August 2026

The short version

Waferchip is a consultancy run by one person, Matt Holman. If you fill in a form on this site, to request a consultation, apply as a design partner, or ask about the privacy service, your details go to Matt by email so he can reply. Nothing is sold, shared with advertisers, or used to build a profile of you. This site does not use tracking or advertising cookies (see the cookie notice for the full detail).

Who is responsible for your data

Waferchip is the data controller for information submitted through this site. You can reach the person responsible directly at matt@waferchip.co.uk.

What's collected, and why

Three forms on this site collect personal data, each for a single, specific reason:

  • Get started:name, work email, company, role, and what you're trying to solve, so a consultation can be arranged and prepared for.
  • Design partner (Waferclick): name, work email, company, and current Google Ads spend, to assess fit for the design partner programme.
  • Design partner (privacy service): name, work email, company, role, and your current tracking setup, for the same reason.

Each form also carries a hidden field that a real visitor never sees or fills in. If it arrives filled in, the submission is treated as automated and is discarded rather than delivered — this is a spam filter, not a way of identifying you.

No other personal data is collected by this site. There are no user accounts, no cookies that identify you individually, and no analytics tracking installed.

What happens to it

Form submissions are validated on the server, then delivered by email to Matt so he can reply. They are not stored in a database, added to a mailing list, or used for any purpose beyond replying to your enquiry.

Legal basis

Data submitted through these forms is processed on the basis of legitimate interest, responding to a business enquiry that you initiated, under UK GDPR Article 6(1)(f). You can object to this processing at any time; see "Your rights" below.

How long it's kept

Enquiry emails are kept for as long as needed to progress the conversation, and are deleted once an enquiry is closed and no longer needs following up, or after two years of inactivity, whichever comes first.

Who it's shared with

Nobody. Submissions go directly to Matt's email inbox. This site does not use a third-party form processor, CRM, or marketing platform to handle enquiries.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR, you have the right to:

  • ask what personal data is held about you
  • ask for it to be corrected if it's wrong
  • ask for it to be deleted
  • object to it being processed
  • ask for a copy of it in a portable format

To exercise any of these, email matt@waferchip.co.uk. You also have the right to complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk) if you think your data has been mishandled.

About this notice's design

The structure and plain-language approach of this notice are based on the open-sourced privacy notice design pattern created by Juro, drawing on the legal design work of Stefania Passera. That template governs the structure and readability of this page, not the specific data-handling claims above, which describe how this site actually works.
